What is STEM?

The acronym STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. In many professions in these fields there are more men than women. We’d like to change this by showing young girls how fascinating STEM topics can be and which exciting study and job possibilities there are.

How can I participate in the Ada-Lovelace-Projekt?

At many schools in Rhineland Palatine we regularly offer after school activities that give you exciting insights into the STEM fields. To find out if your school is already working with us go to the location selection on the top right and choose the location closest to you. Click on the location name in the menu again and choose “Cooperating schools” to find a list with all participating schools.

Don’t worry if your school is not on the list. Just talk to your teacher and ask them if a STEM after school project wouldn’t be a good fit for your school. They can get in touch with us.

Many of our locations offer summer schools, trial days in businesses and interesting holiday or weekend workshops independently from schools. During these events you not only learn a lot of new things but also meet other girls your age who have the same interests as you.

If you want to take part in one of our events you can find a list of all upcoming events here. Most likely there’ll be something exciting happening in your area soon. You can also visit us on facebook and twitter.

Who’s leading the after school activities and workshops?

All of our events are supervised by young women who are currently studying or doing an apprenticeship in the STEM field. Many of them aren’t much older than you and are still at the beginning of their career themselves. This means they know from experience what worries you might have regarding your future. They’ll gladly be your go to person for questions surrounding studying and apprenticeships.

During the workshops the mentors will talk about their own experiences in the STEM field and give insights into their working and studying environment. Maybe you’ll hear about careers or study fields you didn’t know existed. It’s important to us that the events help you figure out and support your individual strengths and strengthen your believe in yourself and your abilities.

If you have any more questions you can get in touch with the project leader at the location closest to your hometown. She’ll gladly help and advise you. You can find her email adress in the category “Team” by choosing the location closest to you over the location selection in the top right of the menu. For general questions you can also get in touch with the Central Coordination Office in Koblenz.

Welcome to the website of the Ada-Lovelace-Project, mentoring project for girls and young women in STEMT. We hope you enjoy your stay.
